I Could Use a Wish Right Now - Chapter 2
When Ashley was on Eden Prime, she wished Shepard was alive. Unexpectedly, her wish came true when she saw her on Horizon. Ashley was happy but confused. It hurt when she argued with her about Cerberus.
And she did it again on Mars, but she apologized for everything at the hospital when she recovered.
They were on Eden Prime again. Cerberus discovered a Prothean artifact and occupied the colony. Liara, Ashley, and Shepard were there to save everyone again, finding a pod like the ones on Ilos. However, Cerberus came and attacked, but the three triumphed as always.
After the battle, Shepard dragged herself to her room. Ashley followed, concerned about her condition. Shepard seemed exhausted more than usual.
“Shepard, how are you holding up?”
She plopped herself at her desk. “Exhausted, tired. I can never catch a break, can I?”
Ashley sat on the bed. “Do you wish you hadn’t saved me from that beacon?”
“I don’t know if you’d survive or not. Liara said something about having mental strength.”
“You don’t think I’m mentally strong?”
“That’s not what I said.” Shepard turned her chair to face her.
“You sure Liara said that? You look like shit.”
“I don’t know anything about mental fortitude, but”—Shepard joined Ashley on the bed and lay down—“I could rest.”
Ashley lay down with her, watching the stars go by as the ship moved. “Hey, Shepard.”
“Yes?”
“Could we cuddle?” Ashley liked her, but Shepard never made any moves toward her. Maybe she was so duty-bound to give romance a try.
Shepard giggled. “Do you have a crush on me?”
“M-maybe.”
She giggled again. “It’s fine. I like you too. I’m sorry for all those times we could’ve spent together but never did.”
“I’m sorry, too, for everything.”
They embraced in bed, getting a well-deserved rest.
